Here's a pic of the piece I did for the Day of the Dead show back in November. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. So I tried to conglomerate these ideas into one.

Last Rites Gallery has again decided to find out what several of today's brightest art stars are capable of when asked to create ONE piece of what could be considered truly 'dark art'. Many artists find themselves in a nice groove of creating a certain mood or emotion through their work and have, understandably, become quite comfortable following this path in their art-making. We were curious, however, what would happen if things were to get a little uncomfortable, as the artist challenged themselves to search through new or buried feelings and emotions, the kind which might find their place on the 'darker' side of the artistic spectrum. With that in mind, Last Rites Gallery proudly presents "Dark Pop 2.0": A collection of truly 'dark art' from an incredibly talented and diverse group of artists who would normally never get anywhere near this stuff! If the first Dark Pop was any indication, Dark Pop 2.0 is guaranteed to astound.

here's a quick view of a piece i did for the "Between Truth & Paranoia" show @ Velocity in Watertown. I am happy i got it finished in time, cuz i painted it the morning before the opening! i didn't have time to scan it so better pics will be up when i get it back. Either way I'm stoked on it.

I also am part of the "Dimebag" group show @ Secret Project Robot in Brooklyn opening the same day (July 18th). Apparently their is an advert about it in Juztapox mag with a list of our names- sweet!

I can't wait to get back to the city...2 weeks baby!!!

Bad pics...but its late in the am & I have to be up for work in a few hours so they'll have to do for now. This took forever mainly because I didn't work on it at all over break, but its finaly done!!! Its part of the "Brooklyn Wasteland" series, trying to play with/limit color. So I hate the colors that I originally used for this piece but I really like the drawing. My artwork got 2nd place in the Exhibition Competition, "Politics and Media" at Schafler Gallery!!! It was led and critiqued by guest curators Eleanor Heartney, Larry Litt and "Party Headquarters" artist Kyle Goen.

Also the Prospect Park Zoo has requested that my atwork be kept on for the next show. Apparently the curator said it's the first time they've shown a piece twice, but the staff & patrons love it so it's hard not to!

I'm off to San Francisco for a week!

I did this for Jordin's class. I am quite happy with the result because it is done in a mixed media of acrylic, gouache, colored pencil and ink which I have never used on wood/skateboard or much at all for that matter. I'm also stoked that I started and finished it this afternoon even with experimenting! SWEET!...more paintings on wood to come! (CLICK TO ENLARGE)

I want to thank everyone who came out to my opening at Ad Hoc, it was a huge success! Theres a great review at www.bushwickbk.com/archives/845. Heres some pics for those who didn't make it. However the show is up until February 15th so check it out if you can there is plenty of great upcoming artists to see.

Also, one of my pencil drawings has been selected to be on display at the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn. I believe it is currently up and will be on display from now until at least summertime. So go see it please, plus it's a good excuse to see some furry creatures! ;D

I wanted to create a body of work to send to Topp Trading Card Company. Topp is the creator of the Garbage Pail Kids, www.garbagepailkids.com. Garbage Pail Kids, aka GPK, are non-sport cards/stickers made by Topps Inc. between 1985 and 1988 in the U.S.A. Since girls had Cabbage Patch Kid Dolls back then, they created GPK for the boys, to make fun of the Cabbage Patch Kid Dolls. They also do a collection called Hollywood Zombies, www.hollywoodzombies.com, poking fun of the pop culture icons in a grotesque manner. My idea was to sort of combine the two. I came up with a play on words that intertwines an item of food with a celebrity. So here's a few of the illustrations from it: Bread Pitt and Angelina Jelly, Elvis Parsley, and Juice Willis.

The assignment was to illustrate the words sin circus and president. This was the piece where I felt i had broke new ground for myself. Creating a controlled chaos environment, along with being funny, blunt with simple but recognizable likeness. This was the transition of doing things more for myself rather than just homework :D

It didn't sell (probably due to the poor presentation because I was asked to be apart of the show 3 days prior to the opening and wasn't able to frame it, oh well!) the show had a fantastic turnout and it had a great response regardless!

I don't know how to start this thing so I'm just going to go for it. I'm going into my last semester at Pratt Institute and heres just a brief overview of some of my work thus far.
