Jordin Isip

I'm taking Jordin Isip's class as one of my senior projects. He requires one piece per week, mostly editorial. Which will be good for me because I need to work on my time management & commercial designs. The assignment was to illustrate 'anxiety' by only using a bust (head, shoulders, chest). Here's what I came up with(CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE):

CURRENT EXHIBITIONS

I want to thank everyone who came out to my opening at Ad Hoc, it was a huge success! Theres a great review at www.bushwickbk.com/archives/845. Heres some pics for those who didn't make it. However the show is up until February 15th so check it out if you can there is plenty of great upcoming artists to see.

Also, one of my pencil drawings has been selected to be on display at the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn. I believe it is currently up and will be on display from now until at least summertime. So go see it please, plus it's a good excuse to see some furry creatures! ;D

Euro Trash

This project was for a design competition called europebydesigners.com, the objective was "What does Europe mean to you?"
I lived and travelled Europe for 18 months mainly England before I came to Pratt so I have had some experiences there, this is what i came up with.

Celebrity Garbage

I wanted to create a body of work to send to Topp Trading Card Company. Topp is the creator of the Garbage Pail Kids, www.garbagepailkids.com. Garbage Pail Kids, aka GPK, are non-sport cards/stickers made by Topps Inc. between 1985 and 1988 in the U.S.A. Since girls had Cabbage Patch Kid Dolls back then, they created GPK for the boys, to make fun of the Cabbage Patch Kid Dolls. They also do a collection called Hollywood Zombies, www.hollywoodzombies.com, poking fun of the pop culture icons in a grotesque manner. My idea was to sort of combine the two. I came up with a play on words that intertwines an item of food with a celebrity. So here's a few of the illustrations from it: Bread Pitt and Angelina Jelly, Elvis Parsley, and Juice Willis.

My attempt at digital painting.

The assignment was to illustrate the words sin circus and president. This was the piece where I felt i had broke new ground for myself. Creating a controlled chaos environment, along with being funny, blunt with simple but recognizable likeness. This was the transition of doing things more for myself rather than just homework :D

Day of the Dead

This piece was in my first group show in September in Times Square at the Chashama Art Gallery. It didn't sell (probably due to the poor presentation because I was asked to be apart of the show 3 days prior to the opening and wasn't able to frame it, oh well!) the show had a fantastic turnout and it had a great response regardless!

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

Bed-Stuy Do or Die!

Snakes & Ladders

D.E.A.D RAMONES

My line work derived from frustration, this is one of the first results of this outcome. They are models in class drawn for loosening up exercise. I enjoyed the result and have used this rhythm ever since!

I'm not a very serious person so most of my work is satirical :D

self portrait

This piece was in the running for Print Magazine competition my sophomore year the objective was to create an image that describes design as the new religion.
I don't know how to start this thing so I'm just going to go for it. I'm going into my last semester at Pratt Institute and heres just a brief overview of some of my work thus far. Once I get all this down and up to date I will try to post on a regular basis. My aim is to gain exposure, document my process and hopefully get some feedback. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks,
Ben
